Staff Spotlight | Geoa Busto

Mental Health Coordinator

Meet Geoa Busto, one of Westminster Public Schools’ incredible Mental Health Coordinators specializing in behavioral health. Geoa has been a valued member of the WPS team for nearly six years, bringing a powerful combination of experience, passion, and expertise to her role.

Geoa started her WPS journey as a School Psychologist Intern at Hodgkins and then served at Fairview Elementary for several years. Her unique background includes dual endorsements as a School Psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), giving her a rare perspective that blends clinical behavioral health practices with the realities of everyday school life.

In her current role, Geoa supports Tier 3 behavioral needs and builds the capacity of teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and staff to better serve students with challenging behaviors. Her work is deeply rooted in the belief that every behavior is a form of communication—and that understanding the "why" behind behaviors can unlock the door to effective support and intervention.

Geoa grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and graduated from Heritage High School. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of Northern Colorado (UNC), holding an Education Specialist (EdS) degree with an emphasis in behavior analysis. Soon, she will also complete her Educational Leadership License, further strengthening her systems-level leadership skills in mental health.

When asked why she chose the mental health profession, Geoa shared,  "I truly believe that every child is one caring adult away from a completely different life." Her commitment to building systems that ensure all students—and staff—have the mental health support they need shines brightly in her work.
