‘Family Friendly’ Homecoming Parade is a Hit

With a new route, an abundance of pink and more than 40 entries, the 2023 WPS Homecoming Parade was one to remember.

This year’s parade traveled down 73rd Avenue and through the Westminster Arts District introducing many spectators to a part of the city they never knew existed. It meant a busy morning for area merchants who found new customers for their arts and crafts, coffee, pastries and food.

Pink and the “Barbie” influence was evident as schools embraced the Dancing with the Stars - Hollywood theme to decorate floats and celebrate a beautiful morning. Saturday, September 23, by the way, was the first day of fall.

Because of the new route, families gathered together in a more concentrated space that utilized the parks along 73rd Avenue. Most parade-goers said they loved the new location and want it to be used in future years as well.

In addition to our video and slide show, families can also view our new Canto Photo Portal which allows people to access all of the pictures and download and share their favorites.
