A Note From Superintendent Gotto | April 8

This is a season of promise and optimism for Westminster Public Schools. While public education faces significant funding challenges nationwide, WPS is taking proactive, innovative steps to bridge those gaps. We are not simply managing resources; we are acquiring and aligning new funding streams to create forward-thinking opportunities for our students, staff, and the entire Westminster Public Schools community.

In 2024, Westminster Public Schools established the Office of Advancement to lead critical initiatives for funding and partnerships, working closely with Learning Services—which manages ongoing grant-seeking—to strengthen connections with government, the private sector, and real-world partners that enrich educational programs. Alongside these efforts, the Westminster Public Schools Foundation provides crucial supports for our students and families, enabling the district to cultivate innovative support networks, advance its mission, and uphold a commitment to excellence for the entire community.

Securing these resources requires incredible expertise. It demands intentional relationship building, concerted community involvement, focused marketing initiatives, and a dedicated tenacity in pursuing both grants and private equity.

Grants are incredibly competitive. Being awarded these funds is not just a reflection of individual effort—it is a testament to the nationally recognized work occurring in every school and department across WPS.

When grant makers and private partners evaluate our district, they look beyond "good intentions." They measure our past accomplishments, our vision for the future, and the integrity of our teams to manage funds in meaningful, measurable ways. In short: the excellence of our "personalized" approach has gained recognition.

I am thrilled to share that, since January 2024, our collaborative efforts have resulted in:

  • Multiple new, high-impact community partnerships.
  • Expanded pathways and opportunities for our students.
  • More than $3.7 million in new, non-taxpayer-funded revenue.

These "wins" belong to the whole WPS community. We will continue on this path with increasing enthusiasm, and I look forward to sharing even more milestones as we build a vibrant future together.

If you are aware of grants, charitable opportunities, or potential partnerships you feel align with our mission, I invite you to share your insight with our Office of Advancement by emailing jadcock@wps.org.
